This bill requires newly certified teachers in New York to be trained in the use of an epinephrine auto-injector (commonly known as an EpiPen) within three months of their date of hire. The training can be provided by the school nurse or through a recognized food allergy and anaphylaxis training program, either online or in-person. Documentation of the successful completion of the training must be kept in the teacher's personnel file. The bill applies to classroom teachers certified after the effective date of the law.
