This bill enacts the "Reimagining Long-Term Care Task Force Act" to create a task force to study the state of long-term care services in New York. The task force will examine the full continuum of care available to older New Yorkers, including community-based services, consumer-directed services, culturally and linguistically relevant healthcare, independent living, assisted living, and skilled-nursing facility care. The task force will also study the limitations hampering quality care in both home-based and facility-based settings, and consider potential models for improvement. Additionally, the task force will examine the challenges and issues generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as infection control protocols, staffing shortages, and visitation bans, and provide recommendations on how long-term care facilities and home care service agencies can better protect residents and clients in future emergencies.
