This bill, the National Medal of Honor Monument Act, authorizes the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation to establish a commemorative work in the District of Columbia and its environs to honor the extraordinary acts of valor, selfless service, and sacrifice displayed by Medal of Honor recipients. The establishment of the commemorative work must comply with the Commemorative Works Act, and no federal funds may be used for its expenses. The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is responsible for accepting contributions and paying the expenses for the commemorative work. If there are any excess funds remaining after the work is completed, they must be deposited with the Secretary of the Interior and the National Park Foundation for future memorial projects.
