This bill, the Paid Sick Leave Act, requires employers in New Mexico to provide employees with paid sick leave. Employees can accrue at least 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours per year, which they can use for their own or a family member's mental or physical illness, domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking. During a public health emergency, employers must provide additional supplemental paid sick leave. The bill also prohibits retaliation against employees for using paid sick leave, sets recordkeeping and notice requirements, and establishes procedures for filing complaints and enforcement through civil actions.
