This bill amends Tennessee's law on justifications for the use of deadly force. It allows the use of deadly force to prevent or terminate the commission of certain property crimes, such as arson, burglary, robbery, theft, and vandalism, if the person reasonably believes that the property cannot be protected or recovered by other means or that using less than deadly force would expose them or a third person to the risk of death or serious injury. The bill also clarifies that the display or brandishing of a weapon does not constitute deadly force unless it results in death or serious bodily injury.
