This bill requires motor vehicle repair shops to disclose the types of replacement parts used in automobile collision repairs and obtain written authorization from the vehicle owner or their authorized representative before using any such parts. It also forbids the use of any parts other than new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts on any vehicle during the first year of its manufacture and for the two years following, or for the duration of the vehicle manufacturer's warranty, whichever is longer. The bill also makes insurers responsible for the cost of additional labor and materials required due to the use of non-OEM parts that are ill-fitting.
