This bill aims to prohibit convicted felons from knowingly possessing or using body armor, which is defined as clothing or equipment designed to minimize the risk of injury from a deadly weapon. Under the bill, a convicted felon who possesses body armor is guilty of a fourth-degree felony, but those convicted of a felony within the past 10 years may possess body armor for employment purposes, as long as they surrender it upon concluding their employment. The bill also makes it a third-degree felony for a convicted felon to knowingly wear or use body armor during the commission of a felony.
