This bill requires any passenger-type motor vehicle, other than motorcycles, manufactured for sale in New York state on or after January 1 of the year following the effective date of this new provision, to be equipped with an outside unit magnification mirror or a convex mirror on the passenger's side. The bill also sets forth definitions for key terms such as "FMVSS" (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard), "convex mirror", "unit magnification mirror", and "passenger car", as well as the meaning of "GVWR" (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Additionally, the bill establishes that a violation of these provisions by a manufacturer will result in a civil fine of up to $750 for each offense.
