This bill amends the General Business Law and the Agriculture and Markets Law to specify requirements for motor fuel advertising media. It requires that if the same grade of motor fuel is sold at different prices from a single place of business, the business must have a large, clearly visible street sign displaying at least the higher of the prices offered for that grade of motor fuel. The bill also adds new requirements for the size, placement, and visibility of these advertising signs. It imposes civil penalties for non-compliance and allows local governments to enforce the provisions and retain any penalties collected. The bill provides exemptions for certain local laws and regulations, as well as for businesses that cannot comply due to local zoning or historic preservation requirements.
