This bill establishes a process for the automatic expungement of certain criminal records, including misdemeanors, certain felony convictions, deferred dispositions, and acquittals or charges that have been nolle prossed or otherwise dismissed. The bill has staggered delayed effective dates to allow for the development of systems to implement the provisions. The bill also prohibits employers, educational institutions, and state and local governments from requiring applicants to disclose information about arrests, charges, or convictions that have been automatically expunged, with some exceptions.
