This bill creates a new criminal offense of "unlawful carrying of a firearm while trafficking a controlled substance." It defines a firearm as any weapon that can expel a projectile by an explosion or the frame or receiver of such a weapon. Whoever commits this offense is guilty of a third-degree felony. The bill sets the effective date of these provisions as July 1, 2021.
