This bill requires the State Department of Public Health to conduct an evaluation of the adequacy of the local health department infrastructure, including an assessment of the public health workforce, information technology infrastructure, and laboratory capacity, as well as an evaluation of funding trends. The department may contract with an appropriate entity to complete the evaluation and must convene an advisory group to provide input and technical assistance. The department must report the findings and recommendations to the Legislature by July 1, 2025. The provisions of the bill are contingent on sufficient funding and are set to be repealed on January 1, 2027.
