This bill, known as "Brendan's Law," requires child day care centers and certain other facilities to install cordless window coverings or window coverings with inaccessible operational and inner cords when installing new or replacement window coverings. It also requires child day care centers and certain other facilities that have window coverings in place prior to the effective date of the law to meet the safety standards established in the ANSI/WCMA A 100.1-2018 standard or any successor standard, which includes requirements for Roman shades, roll-up shades, woven shades, horizontal blinds, cellular shades, vertical blinds, and other window covering products. The bill allows authorized agencies to require the replacement of existing window coverings if they do not comply with the safety standards.
