This bill amends the Government Code to provide a one-time cost-of-living adjustment to certain annuitants receiving monthly death or retirement benefits from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). The adjustment is limited to the lesser of 3% of the monthly benefit or $100 per month, and applies to eligible retirees, beneficiaries, and alternate payees whose retirement or death occurred between September 1, 2004 and August 31, 2015. The bill also requires TRS to conduct a study on the possibility of providing future cost-of-living adjustments and alternative annuity payment options, and to submit a report to the legislature by September 1, 2022.
