This bill requires builders to include certain information on any building permit application for the construction of a new dwelling or the addition, change of use, or renovation of an existing building that will create dwelling units. The required information includes the name of the community school district where the dwelling or units will be located, the number of families that will occupy the dwelling or units, and an estimate of the number of child occupants of compulsory school age. The Department of Buildings and the Department of City Planning must also promulgate regulations for determining the estimated number of children and families authorized to occupy each new dwelling or unit. The bill also requires the Department of Buildings to forward this information to the New York City Department of Education within 10 days of approving the permit application.
