This bill requires county boards of education to allow the use of therapy dogs in public schools, with each therapy dog being accompanied by a handler. It also requires each county board to adopt a policy that includes guidelines for the use and handling of therapy dogs, such as certification requirements, guidelines for handlers, guidelines for when and where therapy dogs are allowed, notification requirements for parents and school staff, and guidelines for managing students and staff with allergies or discomfort around dogs.
