This bill appropriates $3 million from the general fund to the Public Education Department to contract with an organization that provides proven, research-based kindergarten through 12th grade college and career readiness systems. The organization must have a successful track record of serving low-income, Hispanic, Native American, and African American students, as well as other underserved populations in New Mexico. To receive the funds, the organization's program must include comprehensive professional learning, align with the state's education system, provide effective teaching and learning strategies, and address opportunity gaps identified in the Yazzie/Martinez v. State of New Mexico lawsuit.
