This bill amends the New Mexico Human Rights Act to prohibit discrimination based on an individual's military or veteran status. Specifically, the bill adds "military or veteran status" as a protected characteristic under the Act, making it unlawful for employers, labor organizations, employment agencies, and others to discriminate against individuals in employment, housing, public accommodations, and other areas based on their military or veteran status. The bill provides definitions for "military or veteran status" and other relevant terms. The bill also makes some other technical changes to the existing law.
