The bill adds new requirements for ballot security and chain of custody, establishes an election offense hotline, and mandates the use of watermarks or other security identifiers on ballots. It also prohibits the display of marked ballots as a form of political persuasion near polling places. In addition, the bill modifies absentee and early voting procedures, including requiring signature verification, providing a process to "cure" deficient absentee ballots, and establishing an online ballot tracking system. The bill also authorizes the state to conduct risk-limiting audits of election results. Finally, the bill creates new election-related crimes, increases penalties for existing crimes, and establishes minimum compensation rates for election workers.
