This bill proposes to amend the New York State Constitution to increase the length of the term of office for members of the state legislature from two years to four years. Specifically, the bill would extend the term length for both state senators and state assembly members, starting with those elected in the year 2022 and in subsequent years. The proposed amendments must be referred to the next regular legislative session after the next general election of assembly members and published three months prior to that election, as required by the state constitution.
