AI Summary
This bill proposes several changes related to insurance in Florida:
1. It prohibits certain practices by contractors, such as offering rebates or inducements to customers in exchange for allowing an insurance claim or roof inspection, and limits contractors' ability to provide advice or adjusting services related to insurance claims. It imposes penalties for violations.
2. It authorizes the Office of Insurance Regulation to examine insurer affiliates and requires insurer affiliates to provide certain information during examinations.
3. It requires property insurers to include certain data on closed claims in their annual reports, and allows the OIR to consider the fairness of payments made by insurers to affiliates.
4. It makes various changes related to Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, including requiring the inclusion of catastrophe reinsurance costs in its rate calculations, limiting annual rate increases, and requiring approval of employee compensation plans.
5. It establishes new pre-suit notice and settlement offer requirements for property insurance claims, and modifies how attorney fees are awarded in property insurance litigation.
6. It requires written acceptance for actual cash value coverage in homeowner's policies and notice of availability of replacement cost coverage.
7. It expands the definition of "supplemental claim" and "reopened claim" under property insurance policies and sets timeframes for providing notice of such claims.
