This bill establishes the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion within the Department of Information Technology. The office is tasked with setting quality of service standards for broadband, creating and maintaining an online map and repository of broadband availability and infrastructure across the state, developing a statewide broadband plan, and providing technical and planning assistance to local governments for their own broadband initiatives. The bill also requires coordination between the state and local governments, as well as with tribal governments, to streamline permitting and licensing for broadband infrastructure and identify federal and other funding opportunities.
