This bill includes wildlife animals as those subject to the animal cruelty provisions of the Agriculture and Markets Law. Specifically, it amends the existing law to define "aggravated cruelty to animals" as intentionally killing or causing serious physical injury to a companion animal or wildlife, except for insects, with the intent to cause extreme physical pain or in an especially depraved or sadistic manner. The bill also clarifies that the law does not prohibit or interfere with lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, or other authorized activities involving the use of animals.
