This bill establishes requirements for the purchase of catalytic converters by scrap metal dealers in Minnesota. Violations of the catalytic converter provisions are punishable as misdemeanors, but the bill provides a defense for dealers who reasonably and in good faith relied on the required documentation. The bill's provisions are effective August 1, 2021, and apply to purchases made on or after that date.
