This bill, known as the "parents' bill of rights," establishes a set of rights for parents of students attending elementary or secondary schools in the state. The key provisions include the right to direct the upbringing, education, care, and mental health of their child; the right to access and inspect all records, curriculum, and instructional materials related to their child; the right to attend and participate in school board meetings; the right to make healthcare and medical decisions for their child; and the right to expect that their child, teachers, and educators will not be compelled to affirm or adhere to any ideas that violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The bill also requires school districts to develop policies to guarantee these parental rights.
