This bill requires every law enforcement agency in the state to provide a crime victim with a free copy of the police report related to the crime against them, upon the victim's request. This amendment adds a new provision to existing law that outlines various services law enforcement agencies and prosecutors' offices must provide to crime victims and witnesses, such as orientation information, notification of case status changes, and assistance with needs arising from the crime. The Office of Victim-Witness Advocacy within the Division of Criminal Justice, part of the Department of Law and Public Safety, is responsible for developing standards for these services in consultation with county prosecutors.
