This bill prohibits members and employees of local boards of education in New Jersey from engaging in various political activities while on school property or acting in an official capacity, including delivering mail-in ballots or applications, soliciting or accepting political contributions (as defined by law), sending political electronic communications, distributing campaign materials, participating in campaigns for public office, displaying campaign materials on their person or vehicle (except for bumper stickers), attending or distributing information about events for candidates or political parties, or using their official position to influence someone's political actions. Additionally, it forbids the use of school property, such as stationery, phones, or computers, for political purposes. Violators of these provisions are considered disorderly persons and can face fines up to $1,000, imprisonment up to six months, or both.
