This bill relates to arbitration organizations. It requires private arbitration organizations involved in 50 or more consumer arbitrations per year to collect, publish at least quarterly, and make available to the public in a computer-searchable database certain information relating to such arbitrations. The bill also prohibits financial conflicts of interest, where the arbitration organization or a party has a financial interest in the other. The bill provides enforcement mechanisms, including the ability for the Attorney General to seek injunctions and damages, as well as the ability for individuals to bring their own lawsuits for violations. The bill will take effect 180 days after it becomes law.
