This bill makes several changes to the Chiropractic Physician Practice Act: 1. It expands the eligibility for professional members on the Chiropractic Board by removing the requirement for the New Mexico Chiropractic Association to submit a list of names for consideration. It also provides for the election of a Vice Chair on the Board. 2. It allows the Board to waive the requirement for a Board-administered examination if the applicant has successfully completed the examination by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. 3. It creates temporary licensure provisions, including: (a) granting temporary licenses without examination to licensed chiropractic physicians practicing in a state where a federal disaster has been declared; (b) granting temporary licenses without examination to chiropractic graduates serving as interns under supervision; and (c) granting temporary licenses for up to 12 months to chiropractic physicians licensed in other states to serve as substitutes. 4. It expands the exemptions from the Chiropractic Physician Practice Act to include chiropractic physicians licensed in other jurisdictions who are teaching, demonstrating, or providing chiropractic services in connection with educational seminars in New Mexico for up to 10 days, as well as chiropractic physicians licensed in other jurisdictions who are practicing in New Mexico on a single, temporary assignment for a specific sporting or performing arts event.
