This bill requires the Human Services Department to convene a "Bridges Across New Mexico Behavioral Health Consortium" that includes representatives from various stakeholders, such as the legislature, courts, business sector, and organizations focused on behavioral health, housing, and homelessness. The consortium is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations on the construction of residential treatment facilities, the assessment of current youth and adult residential treatment facilities, the review of current transitional housing and job development centers, the development of a drug prevention program for schools, the review of laws regarding driving while intoxicated, and the availability of regional substance use counseling programs. The bill also appropriates $50,000 from the general fund to the Human Services Department to contract with a behavioral health policy expert to assist the consortium in developing a statewide action plan to be presented to the legislature and other state agencies.
