This bill, the Trusted Traveler Reconsideration and Restoration Act of 2021, requires the Comptroller General to conduct a review of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) trusted traveler programs. The review will examine how DHS tracks data and monitors trends related to these programs, including root causes for enrollment errors, DHS's coordination with other federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial entities on redress procedures, and how DHS can improve individuals' access to reconsideration procedures regarding disqualifying offenses. The bill also requires DHS to extend the period of active enrollment in a trusted traveler program for individuals whose enrollment was revoked in error, for an amount of time equal to the period of revocation.
