This bill, the Georgia Resident In-State Tuition Act, aims to provide certain students, referred to as "opportunity students," with a classification for "opportunity tuition" at eligible units of the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia. To qualify as an opportunity student, individuals must have graduated from a Georgia high school or obtained a valid Georgia GED, established and maintained domicile in Georgia since January 1, 2013, be under 30 years old, and meet other criteria related to immigration status and criminal history.
