This bill amends and adds to existing law to provide for the electronic publication of public notices by a governmental entity on the entity's website. The key provisions are: (1) Governmental entities can publish public notices electronically on their website instead of in a newspaper, as long as they meet certain requirements such as adhering to minimum publishing dates and duration requirements and posting the notices under a "Public Notices" tab on their homepage. (2) Electronic publication of public notices has the same legal effect as publication in a newspaper. (3) Governmental entities are not required to develop and maintain an electronic publication capability, and they must still mail any notices required to be mailed by law.
