This bill initiates a four-year moratorium on the dissolution of any urban rental Mitchell-Lama company, which are affordable housing developments created under the Mitchell-Lama program, and establishes a study by the New York State Homes and Community Renewal agency, in consultation with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation, to make recommendations on the preservation, sustainability, reform, and growth of the Mitchell-Lama housing program. The study will examine ways to expand the program, encourage developer participation, adjust dissolution criteria, and determine the feasibility of preserving and expanding Mitchell-Lama housing in the state.
