AI Summary
This bill amends the Real Property Tax Law to provide a rent increase exemption to persons with disabilities. The key provisions include:
1) Expanding the definition of "person with a disability" to include individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), disability pension or disability compensation benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, or medical assistance benefits based on a disability determination.
2) Allowing municipalities to adopt local laws that increase the income limit for the rent increase exemption for individuals receiving SSDI, medical assistance benefits, or disability pension/compensation from the VA, up to $29,000 in combined household income.
