This bill establishes the New York State Celiac Disease Awareness and Research Fund, which will be used to fund projects aimed at educating the public about celiac disease and supporting research into its causes and treatments. The bill also requires physicians, physician assistants, dentists, nurses, and other medical professionals practicing in New York to complete two hours of training on celiac disease awareness and competence by July 2024 and every registration period thereafter. Additionally, the bill allows individuals to make voluntary contributions to the fund through their personal income tax returns.
