This bill extends the scope of the New Mexico Human Rights Act to actions by public bodies and state agencies. It amends the definitions section to include public bodies and state agencies in the definition of "person" under the Act. The bill also adds a new provision prohibiting public bodies and state agencies from refusing or limiting services to individuals based on protected characteristics such as race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or pregnancy. This expands the existing prohibitions on discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations to cover services provided by government entities.
