This bill establishes an electric school bus pilot program to be implemented and administered by the Public Service Commission. The bill allows investor-owned electric companies to apply to the Commission to implement a pilot program that provides rebates to participating school systems for the incremental costs of purchasing and deploying electric school buses, as well as the associated administrative and operating costs. The bill also authorizes the electric companies to recover the reasonable and prudent program costs through a rate application, subject to the Commission's approval. The bill requires the participating electric companies to report annually on the status, environmental and health benefits, and financial costs and benefits of the pilot program.
