This bill prohibits registered sex offenders whose offense involved a victim under 17 years old and who were at least 21 years old at the time of the offense from residing within 1,000 feet of a school, child care facility, park, playground, designated school bus stop, or place where children regularly congregate. Violations of this law are punishable by up to 5 years in prison or a $5,000 fine, or both. The bill applies prospectively, meaning it does not affect registrants before the effective date of July 1, 2021.
