This bill requires each investor-owned utility to file an electric vehicle charging commercial tariff with the Public Service Commission. This tariff must allow customers to purchase electricity for the purpose of recharging their electric vehicles. The bill defines "electric vehicles" and requires the utilities to evaluate the costs, benefits, and related factors associated with various faster charging rate designs. The Commission will review and approve, modify, or reject the tariffs, and the utilities must make the approved tariffs available to customers within 60 days. The utilities can also propose revisions to the tariffs based on changing costs or conditions, and must periodically report customer and usage data to the Commission.
