This bill amends the insurance law in New York to require that health insurance policies provide coverage for prosthetic devices, including repairs and replacements, that are medically necessary for rehabilitative and habilitative purposes, as defined under the Affordable Care Act. The coverage must be subject to annual deductibles and coinsurance amounts no greater than those for other essential health benefits covered by the policy. The term "prosthetic device" includes artificial limbs and related components, but excludes ordinary wearing apparel such as shoes. The bill applies to policies issued, renewed, modified, or amended on or after the effective date, which is 90 days after becoming law.
