This bill amends the existing law to require zoning authorities, including those of home rule municipalities, to create a mechanism, such as a conditional use permit, to allow an additional detached dwelling with a kitchen in a single-family zoning district or other zoning district that limits dwellings to one per lot. This additional dwelling is intended to accommodate housing for persons with disabilities, as defined by the zoning authority. The bill also requires zoning authorities to accommodate multigenerational housing by creating a mechanism to allow up to two kitchens within a single-family zoning district.
