This bill amends the existing law to allow state agencies and local public bodies to enter into multi-term contracts for the purchase of electricity produced from solar, wind, landfill gas, or anaerobically digested waste biogas resources, with or without storage. The contracts can be for any period of time deemed in the best interests of the state agency or local public body, not to exceed the useful life of the facilities used to supply the electricity. The contract terms and conditions of renewal or extension must be included in the specifications, and funds must be available for the first fiscal period at the time of contracting. The payment and performance obligations for succeeding fiscal periods are subject to the availability and appropriation of funds.
