This bill requires traffic citations to be filed in the county where the alleged violation occurred. It amends the existing law to remove the defendant's right to request a change of venue to the district where the cause of action arose, and instead requires the defendant's consent for a change of venue from the magistrate district where the cause of action arose. The bill also clarifies the territorial jurisdiction of magistrate courts and their authority to hear cases involving motor vehicle violations. The effective date of the provisions in this bill is July 1, 2021.
