Bill Summary

AN ACT RELATING TO HEALTH; PROVIDING AN EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION FOR A CHILD WHOSE PARENT OR GUARDIAN DISALLOWS IMMUNIZATION FOR REASONS OF CONSCIENCE.

AI Summary

This bill amends the existing law to provide an exemption from immunization requirements for a child whose parent or guardian disallows immunization for reasons of conscience, in addition to the existing exemptions for medical reasons or for religious beliefs. The bill allows the parent or guardian to file an affidavit or written affirmation with the health authority stating their objection to immunization based on conscience, which would exempt the child from the legal requirement of immunization for up to nine months.
