This bill, the Polling Change Awareness Act, amends the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to require states to meet certain notification requirements for voters affected by changes in polling place locations for federal elections. Specifically, the bill requires states to notify voters of their new polling place location at least 7 days before an election or the start of early voting, whichever comes first. If a state assigns a voter to a new polling place less than 7 days before an election and the voter appears at their previous polling place on election day, the state must make reasonable efforts to enable the voter to cast their ballot. Additionally, the bill requires states to post signs at any polling place locations that are no longer being used, providing information on the new polling place locations and how voters can find their assigned polling place. These provisions would apply to federal elections held on or after January 1, 2022.
