This bill, titled the "Save Women's Sports Act," aims to regulate student participation in interscholastic or intramural athletic teams or sports based on biological sex. It requires educational institutions to designate athletic teams or sports as either for males, females, or coed, and prohibits students of the male sex from participating in female-designated teams or sports. The bill also establishes a process for students to establish their biological sex, and prohibits government entities, licensing or accrediting organizations, and athletic associations from taking adverse action against educational institutions for maintaining separate athletic teams or sports based on biological sex. The bill provides for private causes of action for students who are deprived of athletic opportunities or suffer harm due to violations of the law, as well as for educational institutions that face retaliation or adverse action.
