This bill, the "Native American Polling Place Protection" Act, provides protections for polling locations on Indian nation, tribal, or pueblo lands in the event of a declared emergency or the invocation of emergency powers. It prohibits the elimination or consolidation of such polling places, or the modification of voting days and times, without the written agreement of the affected Indian nation, tribe, or pueblo. The bill also requires county clerks to provide alternate voting locations and Election Day polling places in certain circumstances to ensure Native American voters can access the polls, even if their lands are inaccessible or borders are closed. The bill also declares an emergency, allowing it to take effect immediately upon passage.
