AI Summary

This bill: Creates a new section of Kentucky law to require health benefit plans to provide coverage for long-acting reversible contraception (such as intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants) administered during a postpartum hospital stay, and prohibits any cost-sharing for this coverage. It also creates a new section to require the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to apply for a Medicaid waiver to offer family planning services to certain low-income individuals, and mandates annual reporting on the program's effectiveness. The bill also amends various existing laws to ensure compliance with the new contraceptive coverage requirements for Medicaid, the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program, and the state employee health plan. Finally, it requires insurers and the Department of Insurance to report on coverage of over-the-counter contraceptives, and allows the Cabinet to delay implementation if federal approval is deemed necessary.
