Bill Summary

Require county approval to relocate bison

AI Summary

This bill requires county approval to relocate brucellosis-free wild buffalo or wild bison into a county, unless the relocation is to a qualified tribal entity. The bill amends existing laws to give county commissioners the authority to review and approve or deny proposals by the Department of Livestock or the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks to transplant or relocate wild buffalo or bison into that county. The commissioners may only approve the relocation if the animals are certified as brucellosis-free and the relocation does not threaten public health, safety, and welfare.
